Sara Hill
Consultant Solicitor
As a Family Solicitor at Fullers Family Law, my role is to utilise over 20 years of experience to support my clients in resolving a wide range of family law matters.
After working for several London firms in Head of Department roles, I joined the growing team at Fullers Family Law in early 2023.
I work with a diverse range of clients and represent individuals in all aspects of family law, whether married, in a civil partnership or cohabiting.
I have extensive experience in negotiating and drafting both pre and post-nuptial/civil partnership agreements, cohabitation agreements, divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships, financial proceedings and property disputes, maintenance provisions and issues relating to children.
Throughout my career, I have built a wealth of experience in dealing with medium and high-net-worth financial settlement cases, as well as those that involve a significant international element. This has given me a unique perspective on the complexities and nuances in such matters and has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to effectively represent my client’s interests, even in the most challenging of situations.
My approach to helping clients is rooted in empathy and compassion. I strive to understand their unique needs and concerns, while also being mindful of the emotional toll that separation and legal proceedings can take on individuals.
I always strive to negotiate and settle matters outside of court in the first instance, to save clients the cost, stress and delay that is associated with formal court proceedings.
I am dedicated to educating and empowering individuals so that they can make informed decisions about their future. With a focus on achieving results, I offer comprehensive guidance that is tailored to each client's unique needs. I am committed to providing clear and practical advice that is always aligned with my client’s best interests.
I believe that early strategic planning is crucial to the success of resolving any situation. I listen to my client’s needs before developing effective strategies and plans that help achieve desired outcomes.
In my spare time, I am a Trustee for Relate West Sussex, which is a charity providing relationship support and counselling.
Notable Cases:
- MO v RO & Anor [2013] EWHC 392 (Fam). The proceedings concerned the financial arrangements following separation. The applicant sought a declaration of marital status under section 55(1)(a) of the Family Law Act 1986. I represented the respondent. The proceedings concerned an application for a declaration of marital status under section 55(1)(a) of the Family Law Act 1986. The applicant claimed that she was married to the respondent in a customary marriage ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, on 20 June 1977, and that this was a valid marriage from its inception. The respondent denies that any such ceremony took place or that he and the applicant had ever been married. In the alternative, the respondent asserted that if there was a marriage, it was void by virtue of s.11(d) of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, as being a polygamous marriage entered into at a time when he was domiciled in this jurisdiction.
