Jane-Louise Burrows
Director, Solicitor & Mediator

As a specialist in Family Law and a Mediator, as well as a Solicitor I feel I am able to offer more than advice about legal rights.

I aim to support each client through one of the most stressful experiences in their lives, and assist them in finding solutions, which often entail an innovative approach.

I joined Fullers in 2015 to benefit from working with like minded colleagues in a niche family law firm.

As a mediator, my role is to assist you and your former partner in finding the best solutions following a separation.

Mediation empowers both of you to express your views and put forward the solutions you consider to be the best for your situation.

I will listen to you both to understand your concerns and objectives and provide support to ensure your opinions are heard.

Mediation is confidential and any discussions are without prejudice so you can feel safe putting forward ideas and exploring the other person’s viewpoint without being tied to any option before you have decided which one you feel is the best.

Mediation prioritises achieving an outcome which reflects both of your objectives and to which you are both committed.

I have 30 years’ experience as a family lawyer and I will provide legal information but not advice, and ensure all options are explored, including some you may not have thought about. While you each remain free to make your own decisions, my aim is to guide and support you to reach a resolution together that is the best outcome for your family.

The process of mediation also often improves communication between you and your former partner. This is particularly important when you have children together so that you will be able to discuss and make future arrangements for them as they grow and their needs develop.

Mediation is usually a much quicker process than court proceedings. The National Audit Office Report in Family Mediation in 2007 confirmed that the average duration of a mediated family case was 110 days in comparison with 435 in a litigated case. Since that report,  the pressure of work at the courts has increased so the delays in litigated cases are even longer. Mediation is also much less stressful and considerably cheaper than court proceedings.

I look forward to working with you to find solutions for a brighter future.

“Having continually put off seeking legal advice regarding matrimonial matters I finally contacted Fullers. During the free 20 minute consultation I was offered advice on the best course of action to follow. Details were taken to ensure all information required was sourced prior to my appointment and to maximise my time with the assigned solicitor. During the meeting all questions I had raised were answered sufficiently and legalities explained in a simple manner. I would fully recommend Fullers for anyone going through marital problems.

“When I contacted Fullers Family Law I was not in a good place and was at my lowest point. Fullers were highly recommended to me and I paid for a 1 hour Pay As You Go consultation with a senior solicitor as I required specific advice as to my options, legal position and the best way forward. Everything was explained honestly, clearly and patiently to me, which gave me clarity and put my mind at ease as to where I stood. I have now instructed Fullers to represent me and I feel confident I am in good hands.”

“I contacted Fullers at a very distressing time in my life as I was in a mentally and verbally abusive situation. I felt scared and intimidated. I paid for a Pay As You go appointment to obtain some specific advice. I was so overwhelmed, but the Solicitor explained everything slowly and clearly one step at a time until I felt ready to move forward. It gave me the confidence to take next steps in progressing with a divorce and dealing with my financial situation. I had two solicitors dealing with my matter and both went above and beyond, updating me every step of the way. They phoned me in advance before emailing me anything so I was prepared which helped me manage any anxiety and stress I was feeling. They had a calming way which put me at ease. They both worked as a team and managed my expectations effectively. They were in tune with each other and with what I needed so I could not have asked for more. The whole team at Fullers were brilliant and I would absolutely recommend Fullers to anyone dealing with a family problem. Now matters are completed I am ready to move forward and I feel so much better in myself.”

“I paid to have a block of specific advice with a senior solicitor as I was anxious about my financial and legal position. The solicitor explained things really clearly and was very knowledgeable about my options. Everything was actioned efficiently and politely. I couldn’t fault any part of the service from start to finish. I would recommend Fullers and I would come back again if I needed further advice.”
