As a Family Solicitor at Fullers Family Law, my focus is helping clients to resolve complex family issues surrounding divorce & dissolution, separation, finances, child arrangements, and cohabitation disputes. Clients are at the front and centre of my work. In addition to these areas, I also specialise in protecting wealth for individuals or couples via pre and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.
Throughout my career, I have held various senior positions at family law firms in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire supporting clients through a range of complex matters arising from separation, including gaining a wealth of experience in situations where there is an international element, including child abduction and relocation.
My focus is on resolving matters for clients in particularly difficult or challenging circumstances, ranging from high-net-worth divorces to assisting clients with farming assets, inherited wealth and businesses. I have also frequently represented clients who are in the Armed Forces and as the daughter of an RAF Officer, I have significant insight into Service life. I understand the complexities associated with Service jobs and in dealing with the structures of military pensions.
I see a key part of my work is helping clients to identify their own priorities and goals which can be difficult to assess in the early stages of a separation; one size does not fit all. I will then create a strategy and can often find a more creative solution than the court-based process has traditionally allowed. In my experience, this tends to result in faster, less expensive, and less stressful outcomes for my clients and allows them to be more involved in key decisions. I am a keen advocate of alternative dispute resolution models such as mediation and Arbitration, which allow for greater flexibility and speed. However, where necessary I represent clients in formal Court Proceedings, achieving successful outcomes in contested circumstances. With a proven track record of success, clients can rest assured that I will fight their corner where needed.
Where there are children of a relationship, I regularly assist parents in crafting workable Parenting Plans, to help families move on in life with as little disruption as possible. As a child of parents who divorced amicably and maintained a great co-parenting relationship, I receive enormous job satisfaction in helping other parents to separate without conflict, as I have first-hand knowledge of how a well-handled separation can benefit children when handled well. I understand the dynamics of a successful co-parenting relationship and the long-term benefits of helping clients to separate in the best way possible.
Since qualifying in 1993, I have also worked with charitable organisations, including ‘Voices In The Middle’ to create talking points for children and their parents who are separating and, as a school governor. I have recently been appointed a trustee of another local charity providing therapy to young children.
I consider myself to be a ‘people person’ with a calm, empathetic, non-judgmental, and understanding outlook, with a focus on providing my clients with goal-orientated strategic and tactical advice as they step through their separation journey.
I am also a member of Resolution which is an organisation for family law experts committed to a non-confrontational approach to resolving family issues.
In recognition of the quality of my experience and client service, I was listed as a Leading Lawyer in the 2020 edition of Legal 500.
